Description
Interesting info about this watch: This Hamilton CLD is a wonderful example of exceptional midcentury American watchmaking. Although Hamilton is best known for some of its bolder, more exotic-looking designs, many of their finest timepieces, in our opinion, are those which do not stray too far from the era’s classic design language. In fact, were it not for the “Hamilton” and “CLD” printing on the dial, one might mistake such a design for a Vacheron Constantin or another traditional European watchmaker. Featuring a yellow gold case with highly sculpted lugs, central seconds, and a mix of Arabic numerals and ‘dash’ hour markers, this Hamilton takes some finer elements of European watchmaking and adds their own twist. The “CLD” moniker was common to almost 20 different Hamilton styles, but consistently signifies one thing: the case has been sealed to protect the movement from potentially damaging humidity. A beautiful, practical, and historical watch, this Hamilton is yet more evidence of the brand’s ability to create high-end timepieces, made in America.
